n. (SCT) The study of the ways people include themselves in social categories along with the stereotyping and depersonalization such categories necessarily entail and the ways individuals cope with the uncertainty and contradictions of such categorization, the desire to enhance the self in doing so, and differences between self- and normative individual categorization.
