orbitofrontal cortex

n. Prefrontal area situated above the orbit of the eyes. It is one of the three major divisions of the prefrontal cortex (dorsolateral, orbitofrontal, and medial). It receives projections from the dorsomedial nucleus of the thalamus. Damage in the orbitofrontal cortex is associated with nonspecific amnesia, difficulties in controlling attention, defects in planning behavior, disinhibition, and personality changes. – AA
