Montessori method

n. An approach to early childhood and elementary education which assumes the child has an active will to learn and will learn in his or her own individual way and at his/ her own pace if given the freedom to do so within a structured and protected environment. Individual freedom and choice with responsibility and practical limits are emphasized, and older children are urged to attempt cooperative projects as ways of learning.
