primary colors

n. The colors blue, green, and red, from which all other colors can be made by adding various proportions of each colored light in human perception. Some researchers argue that yellow and violet should be added because of sensitivity peaks at those wavelengths in the human visual system. Magenta, cyan, and yellow are the basic colors used in mixing paints or other art materials, which is a subtractive process.
