sign test

n. In statistics, a nonparametric test of the similarity in two sets of paired numbers in which each number is compared to the median, and the sign, positive, negative, or neutral, is recorded. The numbers of similar signs in the sets are compared to what would be expected by chance, and the null hypothesis that there is no difference between the groups is rejected when too many of the signs are dissimilar.
