psychomotor epilepsy

n. A seizure disorder in which there is a complex set of psychological experiences, which may include illusory sensory experiences, paramnesias, and strong emotions, and which often is evidenced by repetitive motor movements such as tapping, grimacing, chewing, or swallowing but no convulsions typical of grand mal seizures. It was formerly called temporal lobe epilepsy as the focus for the seizures is most commonly in the temporal lobe.
