paranoid schizophrenia

n. A pervasive mental illness characterized by persecutory and/or grandiose delusions and auditory or other hallucinations of persecution, often in the presence of otherwise nearnormal cognitive, perceptual, and affective functioning. The prognosis for this form of schizophrenia is better than for other forms, as is the capacity for independent living and vocational self-support.
