n. A self-report measure in which the person is given a sheet of paper on which the phrase “I Am” followed by 20 blank spaces is printed and asked to fill in the blank spaces. This is generally used as a rough assessment of a person's self-identity and has been used to examine cross-cultural differences in independent and interdependent self-construal. There is no standard scoring procedure and so no empirical estimates of the reliability or validity of the test.
