repetition blindness
n. The tendency of subjects being presented with a series of very brief stimuli to be less likely to detect a second presentation of one stimulus than presentation of a new stimulus. Thus if a subject is presented with the words red blue yellow black red white he/she is less likely to report the second occurrence of red than he/she would had pink or green been used instead.
