An image on the retina that does not move as quickly as the eyes move as the receptor cells in the retina take time to respond to new stimuli and are responsive to change rather than fixed stimuli. This is important in vision as the eyes are nearly constantly moving a small amount, and without a stabilized image vision would be constantly fuzzy.
