cross-cultural training programs

n. Used in a variety of academic and business settings, cross-cultural training programs seek to increase understanding, communication, and intercultural competency of individuals and groups from different cultures. Such programs either emphasize general awareness of another culture or address the specific needs of a client group. Crosscultural training may include presentation and discussion of specific country or cultural values, morals, ethics, communication styles, and etiquette; language instruction; assessment and reduction of relocation stressors or culture shock; or the improvement of inter- personal/business relations. These topics are generally addressed through the use of multimedia presentations, case studies, culture-as- similator exercises, or role-playing scenarios.
