A mental state characterized by abnormally high energy, low need for sleep, excessive uncoordinated motor activity and an elevated, expansive, or irritable mood, often with grandiosity, talkativeness, distractibility, excessive sexuality, drug use, or other impulsive behavior without a corresponding depressive period as occurs in bipolar I disorder.
