allocentric

n. A personality pattern that is commonly found in collectivistic cultures. The pattern is found by examining data within culture; thus it is an individual differences variable. In such data allocentrism and idiocentrism are more or less unrelated to each other.
There are allocentrics and idiocentrics in all cultures, but there are more allocentrics in collectivist than in individualist cultures. Good mental health requires a fit between culture and personality. Thus, allocentrics are better adjusted if they live in a collectivist culture. If they live in an individualist culture, they are likely to seek to join groups, associations, unions, sects, clubs, and communes but may feel dissatisfied with their interpersonal relationships in such groups because these relationships may not be sufficiently intimate and extensive.
Allocentrics tend to be unusually concerned with the actions of their in-group members, are high in affiliation and sociability, and are very sensitive to rejection.  -HTr
