n. Any plant or animal having the reproductive organs of both sexes. In humans it is usually the case that a hermaphroditic person has some parts of the reproductive organs of both sexes and is incapable of reproduction. Many plants have both sets of organs in slightly different locations. Some animals, such as geckos, can alternate between playing male and female roles in reproduction.
