magnitude estimation

n. A psychophysical method for measuring the perceived intensity of a stimulus in which a subject uses numbers to indicate his/her judgment about the intensity of a stimulus. Subjects are often given a standard stimulus with an arbitrarily assigned number (often 10) before the start of experimental trials.
