passive-aggressive personality disorder

n. An archaic category of personality dysfunction included in the appendix of the DSM-IV-TR characterized by a pervasive and enduring pattern of dysphoria, ambivalence, negativism and discontent, passive resistance, disdain for authority, feelings of rejection and of being misunderstood, low empathy, and occasional explosions of hostile defi ance followed by attempts at atonement. Also called negativistic personality disorder.
