neurasthenia

n. An archaic term for a mental condition in which the individual feels fatigued and weak, suffers from sleep disturbances, and often has miscellaneous neuralgias and joint stiffness without any obvious physical cause. Today the condition would be labeled as undifferentiated somatoform disorder.
