n. Improvement of a skill on one side of the body when the other side of the body receives training in the skill. If, in learning to eat with chopsticks in the right hand, the capacity to eat with chopsticks in the left hand improves, then bilateral transference is said to occur. This has been used as a basis for inferring a generalized motor program.
