n. A dimension of cognitive style in which a person is placed on a continuum of using external or internal cues in perception and categorization. This is most commonly tested using a rod and frame device in which a frame is tilted and the degree to which this tilting affects the person's ability to judge vertical and horizontal orientation is measured.
