n. In psychoanalysis, a persistent pattern of adjustment fixated in the oral stage of development, which may be either oral receptive or oral aggressive. The oral passive personality tends to be fixated on oral pleasure and is friendly, optimistic, generous, and dependent on others, using oral pleasures such as eating, drinking, talking, and smoking to relieve anxiety. The oral aggressive personality tends to be fixated on oral frustration and tends to be easily frustrated, hostile, critical, envious, exploitative, and demanding.
