psychotic disorder

n. Any disorder in which the person is sufficiently disturbed in mental functioning as to lose touch with significant portions of reality via either hallucinations or delusions. These disorders include schizophrenia, schizophreniform disorder, schizoaffective disorder, delusional disorder, brief psychotic disorder, folie à deux, dementia, and druginduced psychotic disorder.
