deviation IQ

n. An intelligence quotient (IQ) calculated using comparisons to the mean and standard deviations of scores on the test for children of a child,s age with the average score arbitrarily set at 100 and a standard deviation adding or subtracting 15 (or 16) points, depending on the test, so that a child who scored one standard deviation above the norm would have a deviation IQ of 115 while a child who was one standard deviation below average would have a deviation IQ of 85.
