n. 1. In general, anything that strengthens something else. 2. In classical conditioning, the presentation of an unconditioned stimulus immediately after presentation of a conditioned stimulus. 3. In operant conditioning, any stimulus which makes a particular behavior more likely to occur. 4. The process of making a behavior more likely to occur by rewarding the behavior or successive approximations of the behavior.
