n. A person who is trained in psychological research or the clinical practice of psychology and is usually actively engaged in one of those fields. Such persons usually hold doctoral degrees in psychology and are required to have licenses to engage in clinical practice in most areas, although in some areas some activities are performed without doctoral degrees.
