conditioned response

n. A response in the presence of a stimulus which did not originally evoke the response but which has been paired with an unconditioned stimulus until the stimulus provokes a response similar to the one originally evoked by the unconditioned stimulus. Thus if a dog hears a bell immediately before being fed, it will come to salivate when it hears the bell without being fed; the salivation to the bell will be the conditioned response.
