muscle

n. A form of fibrous tissue that contracts when subject to electrical stimulation. This contraction causes pressure across joints that enables bodies to move. There are three types of muscle: smooth muscles, as in the lining of the intestines; skeletal muscles, which enable bodily movement; and cardiac muscle, which causes the blood to circulate.
