n. In operant conditioning, the idea that responses among several alternatives will be distributed according to the degree to which they are reinforced. Thus a response through which the subject has received 50% of its reinforcement will occur about 50% of the time, and a response through which a subject has received 20% of its reinforcement will occur about 20% of the time.
