componential intelligence

A theory of intelligence in which capacity to perform tasks is analyzed into three component parts, including metacomponents used to plan, monitor, and evaluate problem solving; performance components, which are mental tools used to solve problems; and knowledge acquisition components, which are used to learn how to solve problems or make decisions.
