n. A slowing or inhibition of motor responses characterized by reduction in overall motor activity, slow speech with long pauses before speaking which are culturally inappropriate, and slow bodily movements which appear to reflect slowed mental processes. This is characteristic of some forms of major depression and some forms of schizophrenia.
