social psychology

The branch of psychology that specializes in studying processes of social interaction among humans including ways the thoughts, feelings, and beliefs of the individual are affected by the real or imagined presence of others. This includes study of attitudes, affiliation, mass communication, compliance, conformity, cross-cultural issues, authority, social roles and status, interpersonal attraction, group processes, social attribution, altruism, and nonverbal communication.
