Wolffian duct

n. Either of a pair of small passageways in the developing embryo which will turn into male gonads if supplied with adequate testosterone during development and which atrophy and disappear if not supplied with testosterone. These are contrasted with the Mullerian ducts, which turn into female gonads with the proper balance of female hormones and which disappear in males during the course of normal development.
