visual adaptation
n. The several processes of change in the functioning of the perception of light and objects reflecting light after prolonged exposure to the light. As an example, the retinal rods are soon depleted of photopigment and become unresponsive after exposure to bright light. Visual adaptation includes chromatic, dark, light, and prism adaptations, as well as transient tritanopia.
