superego
n. In psychoanalysis, the conscience, which consists of introjected ideals and moral prescriptions from the parents, mostly in early childhood, and other admired adults through later life. The superego restricts the actions of the ego and mostly confines them within the limits imposed by society in the form of parents and other admired older persons in the child's life, but the ego tries to trick or circumvent the superego and find ways of expressing morally proscribed impulses.
