Weltanschauung

n. A worldview or general understanding of the universe and the place of humans in the world. This worldview can be that of an individual, a culture, or a subculture, and it serves as the basis for the development of material and intellectual aspects of culture as well as providing a base of common understanding facilitating communication among those holding the worldview.
