paranoid personality disorder

n. An enduring pattern of adjustment in which the individual is pervasively distrustful and suspicious of others. This includes being suspicious without evidence that others are exploiting or harming her/him, being preoccupied with doubts of others' loyalty, being unwilling to confide in others because of suspicions about them, reading negative meanings into benign actions of others, being hypersensitive and holding grudges, believing others are attacking her/his character without reasonable evidence, and having unwarranted sexual suspiciousness of spouses or other significant others.
