Oedipal phase

n. In psychoanalysis, the phase of development in which the primary form of pleasure is immature genital play, which leads little boys to fall in love with their mother and hate their father and leads little girls to fall in love with their mother and envy their father's possession of a penis. Also called the phallic phase.
