intercultural adaptation

n. The process of adapting one's behavior when interacting with people in a culture different from that in which one was raised. This includes learning to take the perspective of the others in different social situations accurately as well as learning cultural rules, behaviors, and linguistic forms and adapting one's behavior to fit the situation.
