cerebral dominance

n. Sometimes used as synonymous with hemisphere specialization or brain asymmetry. The term cerebral dominance emphasizes that there is a specialization (dominance) for some cognitive function, usually language. Sometimes in the past it was usual to refer to a dominant or major hemisphere (generally the left) and a nondominant or minor hemisphere (generally the right). Cerebral dominance is a term that has been progressively disappearing and is used less and less in the scientific literature.
