unconditioned reflex

n. (UR) Any behavior that occurs in the absence of specific conditioning for it. Hypothetically it may be inherited or instinctual, but in a practical sense it is anything not known to have been learned. In Pavlov's original experiments with dogs, the UR was the salivating of a dog when being fed. Also known as unconditioned response or unconditional response.
