A person's understanding of himself/herself as a sexual being, including awareness and recognition of biological sex roles, as a man is aware that he has the potential to impregnate women and knows the necessary behaviors, and a woman is aware of her capacity to bear children and has knowledge about behaviors that lead to pregnancy. Sexual identity is usually meant to include sexual orientation and personal affiliation with some aspects of cultural gender roles.
