seasonal affective disorder

n. (SAD) A recurrent pattern of depression or bipolar disorder which regularly coincides with the seasons of the year. For example, many people in monsoon-type climates as in Oregon and Washington State have recurring depressions in the winter months when sunlight is markedly diminished.
