Apgar score
n. An evaluation method for the health of newborn infants including skin color, heart rate, respiration, reflexes, and muscle tone, each of which is scored on a 0-2 scale with a maximal possible score of 10. Scores below 3 indicate severe distress, scores between 4 and 7 indicate moderate distress, and scores of 7+ are considered normal.
