minor epilepsy

n. A generalized seizure disorder which does not involve the motor cortex whose apparent symptoms are a short period of blank expression, ceasing of current activity, and unresponsiveness and amnesia for the seizure period, which typically lasts from 2 to 20 seconds. In some individuals the seizure is accompanied by jerky eye movements or aimless walking. Also called petit mal epilepsy and absence seizure.
