Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory

n. (MCMI III) A widely used self-report measure of psychopathology originally based on the theories of Theodore Millon and modified to conform to diagnostic categories in the DSM-IV-TR, which is intended for use in diagnosing psychological disorders. It includes 13 scales for personality disorders, 10 clinical syndrome scales, 3 modifying indices, and a 3-item validity scale that is of questionable utility. An innovation in the scoring of the MCMI III is the use of base rate information, which improves the diagnostic power of the test by lessening the frequency of false positive results.
