A mental disorder characterized by sleep disturbances, crying without apparent cause, diarrhea, fever, and vomiting found mostly in the Mediterranean area and most prevalent in children but sometimes occurring in grown women. It is commonly believed to be a culture- bound disorder. Also known as the evil eye.
