logical positivism

n. An archaic philosophy in which spirituality and ethics are rejected as meaningless and the assumption is made that the only meaningful statements that can be made are simple propositions which can be immediately verified by observation. It was an important point of view in late 19th- and early 20th- century psychology in points of view such as behaviorism.
