Jacobson's organ

n. A set of specialized sensors in the nose that in nonhuman mammals respond to sex pheromones and play a significant role in sexual physiology, arousal, and behavior. In humans the function of the receptors is not well understood. Also called the vomeronal nasal system and vomeronasal system.
