n. Originally it was the mental age as defined by a test divided by chronological age multiplied by one hundred. This form has been replaced by the deviation intelligence quotient, which is defined by one's place in a standardized curve of scores on an intelligence test which has a median of 100 and a standard deviation of either 15 or 16, depending on the test.
