induction

n. 1. A form of logical reasoning in which general principles are inferred from multiple observations. 2. In classical conditioning, increasing the magnitude of a response to a conditioned stimulus brought about by presenting an inhibitory stimulus immediately before presenting the stimulus. 3. Any act or process of bringing about a change, as of inducting a person into the military, putting someone into a hypnotic state, or producing an electrical current in a wire.
