house-tree-person test

n. A projective test in which a subject is asked to draw a house, a tree, and a person and then is asked questions about the drawings. The details of the drawings and answers to the questions are then interpreted quantitatively and can be used to estimate intelligence or detect brain damage and interpreted intuitively by the tester to infer personality and psychological state. The test has questionable reliability and validity.
